For others, it was a revelation of how much has been learned through painstaking archaeological research. In answer to a question from a participant, Mike hazarded that excavations to date had covered less than one per cent of the surface area of the walled town, hinting at how much more there is to discover in future excavations.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"324\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11517\" style=\"width:491px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-2.jpeg 324w, https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-2-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Familiar finds from recent years included the Nero-stamped tile from the bathhouse excavation and many other ceramic and metalwork objects. There were unexpected items among the familiar: for example some tiny anglo-saxon coins and the skeleton of what was said to be the first British lap-dog.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"256\" height=\"341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11519\" style=\"width:502px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-3.jpeg 256w, https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-3-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Places on the tour were limited for obvious practical reasons, but you can still catch up with the exhibition on tour. This is scheduled for the Red House Museum, Christchurch from 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0July to 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0September 2024; and the Andover Museum from 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0September to 24<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0November 2024.
