Some of the finds are shown drying in figure 1. However today brought a number of notable new finds as shown in Figure 2. The \u201cLH\u201d find (discovered by Gordon) is likely to be a 3<sup>rd<\/sup>-4<sup>th<\/sup> century AD flagon handle from comparison with other assemblages and the \u201cCentre\u201d find (discovered by Katharine) is a fragment of slip-ware platter probably also of a Late Roman date. The \u201cRH\u201d find (discovered by Lindsey) is the \u201cstar find\u201d from today\u2019s excavation which is a sprue from a lead casting, where molten lead was poured into a circular mould and for some reason was later discarded \u2013 but provides yet more evidence of metal working taking place on this site that from its discovery in context with the other finds shown can be dated to the Roman period.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdnRSB9P3Q2fXqczXFg62wIsU9nPISDAe3nMEtCZV5V2F-hG8u3u8Fm0F93WEjGr84PGSDVerWyjUBbycnyWbTgpIRdVNqRTh0BBWu8MLh6JVIgl1S7lNRmk-8ex73WoGF9WR8GtndxxgEXdw1YWQc?key=uP-nfyN8hCDxwoB7jAjUkw\" alt=\"A collection of rocks in trays\n\nAI-generated content may be incorrect.\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Figure 1.
