The bank is recorded as being 5ft high, 10ft wide and circular with a diameter of 80 yard<\/em>s.<\/p>\n<p>The site is now occupied by houses and earlier in the year we were invited by John Smith, one of the householders, to investigate the site.\u00a0 As a result we are carrying out a geophysics survey of the site.\u00a0 The surveying has been complicated by the number of features, trees, patios, swings, garden ornaments etc that the householders have in their gardens.<\/p>\n<p>The figure below shows a plan of the site, a green ring which marks the suspected location of the tumulus and two resistivity plots, the results of the first two days of work.\u00a0 At this time, we have arrangements to survey at least one other garden.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/04\/survey-of-great-how-tumulus\/great-how1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2137\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2137 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Great-How1.jpg\" alt=\"Great How1\" width=\"1232\" height=\"1114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Great-How1.jpg 1232w, https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Great-How1-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1232px) 100vw, 1232px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Berkshire Archaeology Historic Environment Record records Great How tumulus as being: A ring ditch and bank called Great How Tumulus.
