{"id":3873,"date":"2017-09-23T13:26:56","date_gmt":"2017-09-23T12:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/?page_id=3873"},"modified":"2023-01-09T10:16:39","modified_gmt":"2023-01-09T10:16:39","slug":"geophysics-survey-in-arborfield","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.berksarch.co.uk\/index.php\/geophysics-survey-in-arborfield\/","title":{"rendered":"Aberleigh, Hall Farm, Arborfield"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>BAS2017_P01<\/h4>\n<p>BAS submitted\u00a0a proposal to carry out a geophysics survey of the grounds of Aberleigh built by University of Reading in the 1960s.\u00a0 We are surveying this area because it is believed to be the site of three other buildings: Arborfield manor which probably dates from the 12th or 13th century, a manor house built by Edmund Standen in 1603 and Arborfield Hall which was built in 1832, then rebuilt in 1837.<\/p>\n<p>The RAF and US forces occupied the hall during World War 2 and a camp of Nissen huts built as part of a military base built circa 1943.\u00a0After the war the hall was left in disrepair and demolished in the 1950\u2019s.
